WebAbstract. Objective: The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between initial radiographs of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) and clinical results. Methods: Of the 135 VCFs in the elderly, 73 consecutive patients (84 vertebrae) were reviewed retrospectively. All patients were treated without rigid immobilization. Webeach type can be graded semiquantitatively based on the loss of vertebral body height (Genant method) grade 0 - normal vertebra grade 1 (mild fracture) - vertebral body height reduced 20%-25%, and 10%-20% reduction in surface area compared to the adjacent unaffected vertebra
